Latest Fishing Report 13/08/13
Hi everyone, we are truly in winter mode now so wrap up tight and get out there . We have a few really good reports of nice fish being taken in the shallows off Rangitoto, the ticket is to use as little sinker weight as possible as they are very soft on the bite. Berley is a must and nothing compares to the salmon berley as it is so oily - leave it in the plastic bag and just spike it with your knife, don’t put big slices in it as it thaws really quickly.
Small baits are the ticket - half pilchards or strips of squid are working the best, if you are into the gurnard 3/0and 4/0 recurve hooks on a ledger rig (black magic flasher rigs) with the bottom hook no more than 150mm from your sinker as they are bottom feeders with salted bonito as choice of bait or the Lucanus jigs are another option and work really well. A few fish are being taken off the shore locally on the change of light so a good way to while away a couple of hours and maybe a feed to boot.
Tight Lines & No Lies.
